This one’s going to be short and sweet. Or not so sweet. I didn’t keep a thing! My first Stitch Fix shipment was such a reflection of my Pinterest style board, and it was so exciting that they paid attention. Although I had the same stylist again for round 2, it got farther away from my inspiration board. But truly, this is helping me hone in on my style, so I’m still hooked on this service!
(Please forgive the giant iPhone in the way of everything. I can barely even hold my new phone one-handed, so photo wrangling was difficult. I guess this is why they make selfie sticks?! I’ll figure out a better system for next time!)
I’ve said the word “layering” over and over in my style profile, so I get where they were going with this, but the fabrics and colors were just all wrong. I don’t wear a ton of black. I’m more of a lighter neutrals girl, like oatmeals and grays. I just really like brown over black, so I wear a lot of colors that go with brown boots and such. They basically sent me pieces to make a black layered outfit. I didn’t check off that I didn’t want to receive black, so my bad. And I still don’t think I will check that – I just don’t need the entire fix to be black!
Market & Spruce Alan French Terry Asymmetrical Zip Cardigan – $68 – RETURNED
They were so on the right track with this asymmetrical cardigan – I have several pieces like this on Pinterest. But not black and the fabric was all wrong. I’d like it to be more of a cotton-y texture. Instead it was rayon and suplex or something, so it was almost shiny. And it just laid weird and bunchy.
Market & Spruce Sam Hi-Lo Short Sleeve Tee – $44 – RETURNED
The hi-lo cut green tee underneath was okay, but not my favorite neckline and just too expensive for a t-shirt. It seemed like great quality, just not my thing.
Rune Kiley Ankle Zip Legging – $58 – RETURNED
The black leggings sucked everything in nicely, but were also that shiny rayon stuff and too expensive when I own 3 other pairs of black leggings. I can’t believe I just put my legginged self on the internet.
Pink Martini Opal V-Neck Sweater – $48 – RETURNED
They are really trying with the stripes. But these stripes seem frumpy. Do I even know what that word means?! They just aren’t right, crisp, preppy. I don’t know. The back of the sweater was much better than the front, and again I like the hi-lo cut, but the front was cut far TOO high. I like my tops to hit at about mid-pant zipper, not right at the top of my pants.
Loveappella Yana 3/4 Sleeve Striped Dress – $64 – RETURNED
And the dress was also on the right track in theory, but this made me realize I like my stripes on top and not on bottom. Also seemed like good quality, but not for the money. Looked like something I could get at Kohl’s or Target for cheaper.
So all in all, I was disappointed, but I’m not done with Stitch Fix. The first fix was so on point with my style. I will tell them to give me more of that. I will tell them I want more special statement pieces and not basics, which I am stocked up on. Lots of lessons learned with this one, and I can’t wait until the next fix!
